Living above the roofs of the city? Living under the open skies is a fine affair: Especially when the roof loft is fine tuned and cut to size for the owners. (…) Then, while leafing through magazines, they came across the loft box in Gießhübl and with that, the issue of who would build it was solved, too.
A short while later, the entire roof of the stately house was lifted off and carried away; all that remained was the brick chimney. Andreas and Gerda Maria Gerner put an autonomous and spacious glass-steel construction on the naked house top. Supports, carriers and ties remain visible; there was absolutely no desire to hide anything here. (…)
