National Park Center Hohe Tauern
Description
The building volume’s smooth, low form melds into the dominant, outside space of the Alps and reflects the folds of the mountains’ slopes in its double-pitched roof landscape
As soon as one enters, the building, with its extensively glazed ground-floor zone, exposes the view of the Hohe Tauern. The entire volume is accessible via generous ramps, and is permeated with terraces providing viewing situations and departure points into the park. The “Hochstand,” a glazed viewing platform over the events area, with lines of sight on all sides, offers optimal, distant views. The atmosphere is light and friendly, daylight is guided deep into the interior though the atrium as well as through the roof’s characteristic glass groove.
