In order to fit the predetermined height of the sports hall into a compact structure which fits into the urban surrounding, the playing field is set below street level. As a consequence, space for additional functions, such as wardrobes, technical or storage rooms, is created in the basement as well as a two-story rostrum is put above these functions.

The ground floor with entrance and lobby is enveloped with large areas areas of glazing. The story above is protected by sunblinds in a differentiatet pattern. A shed roof regulates the amount of light entering the building.
