In a three-day workshop the teams worked up an urban development plan in cooperation with property representatives, the City of Vienna and experts.
[…] Due to the planned U1 station “Kurbad Oberlaa” an urban and more frequent development is foreseeable at the current and middle-term remaining edge of the city. […] The workshop team developed a diverse neighborhood from the corridor structures and the contexts mentioned above. Diverse because of the predominant residential uses like alternative forms of living, mixed uses of living and working and additional uses such as kindergarten and student residence were in demand.
The proposal for the basic typology is an extended pedestal structure with approx. 6-7m height. On the one hand, this enables loft-like possibilities of use (mixed uses) or classic row house structures, which are embedded in public space on two levels with an upstream lower private zone on both sides.
On this pedestal, the second typology is stored as a 3-storey residential building row. As a third typology, residential towers with punctual heights of about 30m in height are proposed on the base structure. The changing near-depth effects of public space are thereby achieved, orientation and significance secured. […]
