The two building sites are located in the small-scale housing structure of Vienna-Breitenlee, bordering the Pelargonienweg in the south, and an allot green settlement in the north. In the west, a piece of forest borders the area and in the east single-family houses. With regard to an appropriate scale and efficient use of the possible buildable areas, the required space program will be housed in a three-storey building on the smaller Pelargonienweg site, while the larger of the Azaleengasse will be divided into two buildings with three storeys. The mutually offset positioning of the three buildings in conjunction with the intelligent arrangement of the apartments guarantee impressive views. Their orientation from east to west is based on the position of the sun and ensures optimal lighting.
The lively structure of the east-west-facing buildings are based on a conceptual consideration: in order to maximize the surfaces to the south, the cubature was folded out at four points by 90 degrees towards the sun. This creates an optimized orientation of the apartments with bright rooms. According to this design principle, a building was first optimized, then mirrored once at the development axis and once at its narrow side and then tripled.
