As an alternative to conventional homes for the elderly, independent living in the midst of a group turns out to be a time-adequate and an age-appropriate form of housing. With its village-like structure and the pavilion-like grouping of buildings, the ensemble takes on the small-scale structure of the neighborhood.
The buildings are differentiated in height and grouped around green courtyards. The residents’ own apartments within the community provide the necessary privacy and society life. Mutual support is provided by spacious communal areas and communal kitchens.
The location of the new nursing home in the spacious landscape-planned garden provides an elegantly environment for the residents. Due to the fact that the vast side will be opened to the general public, the kindergarten, doctor’s office and the gym, could also be used by residents from the surrounding neighborhood. Thus, the new house will become a meeting place for old and young.
